Teaching or telemarketing

Published by blogsmith at 12:46 pm under Bangkok Edit This

When I arrived in Bangkok in 2001 telemarketing was flourishing like mushroom. There was a influx of Filipinos arriving. In Klongtan condo where I was staying for example one or two Filipinos were arriving every other night. They or we all came with a tourist visa, apply for a job and when hired the employers would then give us papers to apply for a non-immigrant visa and a work permit. Telemarketing was more lucrative than teaching but it was not a legal job and so they couldn’t get a work permit.  But I didn’t come to Thailand to be a telemarketer. I am a teacher and am going to apply for a teaching job. However, since it was almost summer break I didn’t think it was right to send my resumès to schools.
