Getting to know Thai foods

Published by blogsmith at 6:45 pm under Bangkok Edit This

At the school, lunch was provided and for the first time ever I have come across the real Thai foods. Although I had seen them in the sidewalk restaurants back in Bangkok but I had never really tasted them because I always eat Filipino foods prepared at home. Yes, we did go to eat out but it was more of a westernized menu. So now I have come face to face with Thai food and it was strange at first. There was this leaves that I thought was sweet potato leaves which I like very much and no sooner as I put it in my mouth than I had realized it wasn’t. It tasted detestable at least to my tongue and I struggled as I swallowed it. You know that feeling when you have to swallow a big tablet that has the most unpleasant taste but you don’t wanna spit it because it was expensive and you need it badly to get better. For me, I couldn’t spit it because I was in the cafeteria with other teachers and the pupils and it was impolite.

Do you wanna know what that leaf was? It turns out it’s basil leaves which I am now very fond of. Laughing
